No. Cloning should not be banned. Cloning of animals does not affect human individuality. Cloning is a new scientific breakthrough. Who knows what future breakthroughs cloning may bring to mankind? We should not curb our own research and development and its use by banning it. We should strive forward with this development. Science has continued to make life better for us and cloning is part of it.
The use of cloning is limitless. Right now, there are only a few types of cloning – Molecular Cloning, Genetic Cloning, and Organism Cloning. Cloning has many uses; a few of the most common ones are embryo cloning, organ cloning, and species cloning.
Cloning should not be banned; however, cloning should instead be down in moderation – in controlled numbers. Many believe that as cloning research and methods improve, concerns of safety and reliability will no longer be an issue.
Embryo cloning does not affect human individuality. It helps impotent couples conceive. Isn’t this a good thing? Cloning can be done on animals to help protect the extinct and endangered species. However, this should be done in moderation – like cloning an animal after it has died. Just like we humans, it would be weird to see another of yourself right?
Cloning can also be done to provide human beings with fresh and good organs for transplant. Like the movie The Island, if you don’t cultivate clones with brains, you can clone humans to be your “life insurance policy”. Who knows what possibilities cloning may bring?

1 very interesting question to you guys. If I clone another KianHong(KH2), then that stupid KH2 go kill Mdm Tan. Who should the judge pass the death sentence on? KH1? KH2?
Because technically and biologically, KH1 and KH2 are the same entity.
If you say hang KH2, but think about it. If KH1 didn't clone out KH2, KH2 won't have the chance to kill Mdm Tan. So shouldn't KH1 be blamed?
But according to the law, KH2 should be the one to be hanged. Because he is the one who killed Mdm Tan. But KH1 and KH2 are the exact same thing.
So who should the judge hang?
That is the problem.
Cloning should be banned to safeguard human individuality. Just imagine your clone hanging out with your gf and you will get what I mean. =D

What cloning actually means? Does it refer to the cloning of tissues? Or does it refer to the cloning of a living being entirely?

If it's the cloning of tissues etc, I would say it should not be banned if it is proven that there is a very high percentage of success. But if it refers to the cloning of a living being entirely, i would have to disagree with it totally.

Even if cloning is a new scientific breakthrough, like Alvin had said, but I personally think that the idea of cloning is already defying the "laws" of nature. There are millions and millions of things that humans still need to understand. Or maybe we are not meant to understand it. We haven't even understand fully how our complex body function. A perfect example would be the brain. Our brain is far too complex for us to understand, and now we are trying to duplicate it? There would be a high percentage of faliure due to the lack of understanding. We humans are not ready and will never be ready to duplicate living beings perfectly. So, why do we have to allow cloning if we know that there the chances of faliure would be very high? Wouldn't it be the same as classifying ourself as a being that takes life away uneccessaily? That is because genes or genetic means life.. isn't it?

First things first, who would want an exact replica of him/herself on the streets, even if it only means the physical attributes.

I think that cloning should be banned, so as to safeguard human individuality. This is because no two humans in the world has same physical or mental attributes, even twins have their small differences in physical terms, much more their mentality and character.

Hence if you clone a person, it obviously takes away the individuality that the original person had.

Another point of arguement is also the reason behind cloning a person. Personally there is no justified reason to clone a person, as the clone is not 100% guaranteed to turn out like the original person.

Even if it means cloning a person to use the organs to save a normal human being's life, havent we lost a life in that clone that we took the organs out from?
